SBHA Chapter 28

Chapter 28. You’re Just Jealous of Me

Thunder rumbled; the heavy rain poured down. The rain went plunk, plunk as it dashed lines against the roof of the glass greenhouse and the moist vapor made the fragrance of the grasses and the trees much more distinct. The entire curtain of rain separated them apart from the rest of everything.

The two men could no longer hear anything else.

Yu Ze could only feel Song Yan’s hands cupping around his face; his ears could only hear the uproar inside his head. And when Song Yan pressed in for the kiss, he was enveloped in that familiar Alpha scent.

His legs even went a bit weak.

The second kiss ended. Song Yan watched him but had already wrapped his arms around his waist, just as if he knew how weak he was.

Song Yan’s voice was soft, “Your face is quite red; is it that you’re uncomfortable….?” As he spoke, his words became whispery as his breathing became heavier.

Yu Ze wanted to pull away from him, but he couldn’t; his body just wouldn’t do it.

“Estrus….” Yu Ze mumbled, “Earlier….”

He’d no way to clearly explain it to Song Yan under such circumstances. But Song Yan should most likely also know that if Omegas were too aroused or had intimate contact with an Alpha when their estrus was approaching, it was very easy to shift the timing forward.

Song Yan lowered his head, buried it between Yu Ze’s neck and earlobe and inhaled. The tips of Yu Ze’s tidily arranged hair slipped across his face. He could smell the light scent of cologne, the scent of leaves after the rain, the scent of a brand new script and of early morning coffee; it was a comforting scent that made him remember everything that he ever liked – and he immediately clutched onto him tighter.

“Where’s the medicine?” Yu Ze asked, his voice trembling.

“In the shirt pocket….” Song Yan replied, “…or perhaps in the pockets of the pants…I always have it on me.”

Yu Ze was always worrying after him and had kept wanting him to carry the inhibitor on his person. Today, he had brought it along as well.

They found the medicine. But Song Yan grasped his hand, and said in a low voice, “You can also not use it….”

Yu Ze only felt that the inside of his head was getting hotter and hotter, just as if something was about to explode out. The meds could suppress this sort of feeling, could make him change back to his usual self. But this one moment was also different from what it’d been like in the past. In the past, there wasn’t anyone at his side, but now, Song Yan was here – his scent, his movements, his voice, all were what he wanted the most right now; something that could immediately grant him comfort.

To go back or to continue onwards? Yu Ze tightly squeezed the medicine; his grip was so tight that the packaging was squeezed out of shape.

Song Yan glanced at his hands, before he again caught Yu Ze in a kiss.

“Don’t…..mark….” Yu Ze muttered. He could afford to be comforted once, but he didn’t want to be marked.

This time, they didn’t need to say anything else. Song Yan swept Yu Ze into his arms in one move and they went into the nearest room; Song Yan immediately slipped a hand to lock the door behind him.

It was about an hour later when Yu Ze could finally hear the sound of the pouring rain. He and Song Yan were right then squeezed together on a sofa. Song Yan accordingly pulled over a thick blanket and tucked it snug around Yu Ze.

“Where is this place?” Yu Ze whispered. He felt as if a high fever had just passed and was both weary yet at peace.

Song Yan pressed a kiss to his forehead, “The old study. It’s smaller. And few would come here. Other than the maid that comes over to the area to clean, it’s unlikely that anyone else would come here. Don’t worry.”

Yu Ze lifted his head and looked around. He could sure enough see a lot of bookshelves; but the shelves were quite empty and looked a little lonely.

He returned to his senses, “How long have we been away? The others not being able to find me….you, your father is going to be angry.”

Song Yan glanced at his watch, “Then let him be angry. There’s still some time before the banquet ends, we can still lie here a bit longer.”

He wrapped his arms around Yu Ze, his voice low as he said, “I just want to look at you right now.”

Yu Ze stretched out a hand to straighten out his disheveled hair for him, “I seem to have acted on an impulse.”

Song Yan smiled, “Don’t say you didn’t enjoy it.”

“I don’t like being so easily controlled by the pheromones,” Yu Ze replied.

Song Yan said, “Asides from that, anything else you didn’t like?”

Yu Ze laughed, “No.”

Song Yan whispered from next to his ear, “Seems like I’ve already proven it with my ability then, that acting once on an impulse for me is worth it.”

They were right then enjoying this tender moment when suddenly, there was the sound of voices outside the door; it seemed like a loud racket made by drunken people.

Song Yan and Yu Ze at once fell silent as they listened to the movements outside of the door. With a thud, the two people outside slammed against the door and was followed by the sound of kissing.

The exaggerated sound amused Song Yan into laughter, but Yu Ze covered his mouth shut. Clearly, the two outside the door were also looking for a place to make merry.

As the two people couldn’t open the door of the study, they could only grumble as they left to try the next room.

On hearing the sounds disappear, only then did Song Yan and Yu Ze let out the sound of their laughter.

Yu Ze sat up, “We should go as well.”

There was no way they could hide here until the banquet was over.

Song Yan picked up every article of their clothing, then they tidied themselves up and got dressed. Yu Ze helped Song Yan straighten out his tie – now that they’d changed back into their own bodies, they could finally use their own true identity in front of others and so thus, they both were a little emotional.

Yu Ze rubbed the inhibitor at the base of his neck, just like a cologne. This externally applied medicine would neutralize the scent of his pheromones and make him seem more like a Beta.

“Don’t know if we’ll swap again,” Song Yan mused, as he looked at the two people in the mirror.

“When we changed back, was it thundering?” Yu Ze asked.

“Earthquake, thunder….” Song Yan muttered.

They both felt that external stimulus was most certainly an influencing factor. But apart from this, they still couldn’t be entirely sure.

Song Yan and Yu Ze returned to the party together. Yu Ze had originally said he’d go separately from Song Yan, but Song Yan had tugged him still and said, “I know how you’d be looked at if you’re by yourself in this sort of event. So, stay with me.”

After all, if Yu Ze had only been Yu Ze, he’d no need to attend this sort of event. But it was only because he wanted to see his grandfather that caused Yu Ze to show up here.

Now that they’d switched back, this banquet would only be more of a torture for Yu Ze.

They moved through the crowd together, not too far from the other; one glance was enough to see that they’d entered together. Everyone’s eyes fell on them – some were curious, but most nodded and smiled at Yu Ze.

Now that Yu Ze had returned into his own body, he felt much more relaxed and at ease. And as for the gazes of the guests, he actually didn’t really care at all.

They soon saw Song Ruo Zuo.

Song Ruo Zuo quickly walked over and Song Yan made the introductions for him, “Dad, I am Song Yan. Dad, this is Yu Ze.”

Song Ruo Zuo completely wouldn’t have even imagined that his son had already changed back – he simply hadn’t even realized that he’d lost his son before. He just glared at Song Yan, thinking that Song Yan had frivolously made another senseless joke.

And to even keep Yu Ze at his side on such an occasion. Although Song Ruo Zuo nodded, smiled at Yu Ze, and even shook hands with him, he still told Song Yan, “From what I see, you were better in the morning, your attitude was also proper. The day’s not over yet and you’re already taking it easy.”

Song Yan smiled as he scratched at his own nose, he gave Yu Ze a knowing look and laughed as he said, “This morning, that wasn’t….was my attitude better?”

Yu Ze was a little bit embarrassed; the “Song Yan” that morning had still been him. The one Song Ruo Zuo had been inadvertently praising was him.

Song Ruo Zuo didn’t say anything more, he was on his way to Song Zheng Ping’s study to have a private chat with some of the big shots, but he still gave a word of warning to Song Yan, “You go keep your Mom company. She’s chatting with the people from the Zhou Family.”

Song Yan most certainly didn’t go over. He stayed together with Yu Ze.

For the feast that night, Yu Ze didn’t attend; he was very tired and wanted to rest. But the main overarching reason was that he wasn’t willing to go public with Song Yan at this sort of event – Song Yan had wished for him to sit together with the people of the Song Family; a seat much more intimate than that of an ordinary friend. This would involve changing seats and throwing the seating order into disarray; the arrangements that had be done were a bit too much.

So, therefore, he might as well not go to the feast. Song Yan wasn’t reassured about him, but as this event wasn’t one he could simply just walk away from, he could only let Fang Yuan accompany Yu Ze back and even sent two more bodyguards along.

During the dinner, Song Qi and Song Yan sat together. Song Qi whispered, “Is it that you think everyone else can’t see it?”

“See what?” Song Yan asked.

“Your Alpha pheromone is about to break through the roof,” Song Qi replied, “Think no one else could guess what’d you done? Must you guys rush to do it on this day?”

Song Yan held his laugh back. Right now, his spirits were high, his appetite was good and he felt as vigorous as a dragon and lively as a tiger.

“Bro, you’re just jealous of me,” He said.

Song Yan’s face was blank, “What have I to be jealous of you about?”

Song Yan glanced at the Lu Qiu Yi not much further away and said, “Jealous that I’ve a harmonious life.”

Song Qi gave a dry laugh, “You imagine too much.”

Author has something to say: There’s significant progressive, but no marking!

Translator has something to say: Sorry for the wait. This chapter being this late was also unexpected for me. Because stupid me went and exacerbated an old injury so now I’m still recovering and playing catch up on everything else. Three chapters this time; hopefully all would be up within a day. I’ll be updating MHNEB within two or three days and will catch up on the replies for all the comments within the next two weeks as well. May everyone stay safe and healthy ~ ♡
