SBHA Chapter 22

Chapter 22. Constantly Make Me Pleasantly Surprised

Yu Ze didn’t like some of the items in the physical examination, especially the parts related to pheromone levels and psychological assessment.

That was because the psychologist always loved to use the term “assess”. While Yu Ze could use his acting skills to deal with it, he preferred for his acting skills to be appreciated, to be liked and not to be “assessed”. That made him feel uncomfortable.

Not only that, but due to his particular profession, the psychologist always seemed predisposed to believe he’d hide something. There were times when his mood and his state of being weren’t well, and so his performance over at the psychologist’s would be worse. And then, it’d seem as if all his calm, was actually so easily broken through.

But now it was different, now it was Song Yan taking his place for the tests.

Song Yan would definitely be able to calmly face the psychologist’s “assessing”.

Song Yan was still waiting for his suggestions.

“Should I act a bit more like you ?”

“There’s not much of a need,” Yu Ze said, “You just have to not exaggerate too much, and don’t say anything about us switching bodies….”

Song Yan laughed, “I’d be insane to say that! The psychologist would definitely believe I’d gone crazy.”

“Yes, so you have to act more calm, just like a normal discussion,” Yu Ze replied, “Besides, as you should already know some of my basic circumstances, that’s more than enough.”

“By now, I understand you better than your fans do,” Song Yan said, “At least they won’t know how many birthmarks you have on your back.”

“I don’t know that either. You know?” Yu Ze asked.

“Three, I’ve counted them in the mirror before,” Song Yan replied.

Yu Ze gave him a look, “Yeah….that is something you would do.”

“What thing?”

“Not hurrying to wear clothing after a shower, staring at the mirror for a long time, also letting out an occasional praise in a loud voice,” Yu Ze unhurriedly said.

A laugh rose out from Song Yan’s throat, “It’s like you saw me with your own eyes.”

“I don’t need to see it with my own eyes,” Yu Ze replied, “I am an actor.”

“What’s it to do with being an actor?”

“A good actor has a good imagination. He can surmise a character’s behavior.”

“But I’m not just some role, I might just be a little more complex than you’ve surmised,” Song Yan cheerfully said, “There’s still a lot I could do in the washroom, that you might not dare think about.”

Rather than saying they were provoking each other, it’d be more appropriate to say they were each doing their best not to be outdone in the conversation.

Yu Ze was a grown man, it wasn’t like he’d never said a joke with a special, implicit meaning to someone else before. He’d even said a few boring jokes regarding AO* attributes to Song Yan before, but not once had it ever been this dangerous.

* Alpha and Omega

He turned his head to the side, whispered something right next to Song Yan’s ear.

Song Yan let out a loud cry.

The Yu Xin a distance away, was startled by her own older brother’s shout.

“You’ve also tried it!?”

She turned her head to look at the two.

Her older brother smiled a fake smile at her, and waved his hand, as if to indicate there wasn’t anything wrong. He continued to talk in a soft voice with the Second Young Master Song next to him.

As soon as Yu Xin’s line of sight left him, Song Yan immediately had a face full of amazement, “So you really…”

Yu Ze nodded, “Is it that strange? Isn’t it only fair like this? It isn’t like we can go find someone else using this body.”

Song Yan laughed, “Teacher Yu, you really…..constantly make me pleasantly surprised.”

Yu Ze smiled, “Our topic has slipped a bit too far, hasn’t it?”

Song Yan broke out into loud laughter.

The two chatted for a while longer, about the matter of the psychological test, about the matter of several of the Yu Family siblings.

The next day, Song Yan went to take the physical exam. The status of his health was quite good, the body also had quite a good rest recently; didn’t film dramas, ate well, drank well, the weight had even increased by a bit. But as Song Yan had also done the appropriate amount of exercise, mostly swimming and yoga, the figure could be said to have been maintained.

Following that, was the psychological assessment. He was brought into an office, to be alone, face-to-face with the psychologist.

This psychologist was female, around forty or so years of age, her manner of speaking was very gentle. She didn’t digress much, just directly asked, “Have you been having more asthma attacks recently?”

“Not much,” Song Yan replied, “I haven’t even went to the ER once. There’s the occasional flare-up, but it quickly gets better with the medication.”

“You can’t rely too much on the medication,” the psychologist said gently.

They started the test. First was looking at several videos, then a quick set of question-and-answers about them. After that was again a series of ‘yes’ or ‘no’ questions, followed by a leisurely discussion.

Song Yan felt that he was doing rather good, just like his usual performance. But when it came time for the discussion, he started to feel that something was amiss.

“……and so, lately you’ve been feeling that everything has been very comfortable? You haven’t filmed anything over the past few months, is this a problem to you?”

Song Yan felt that this was a bit like a trap, but he couldn’t really grasp what would be a correct response.

“I can’t say that everything has been very comfortable? Problems, maybe a little? But my overall state of mind is rather good,” He smiled a perfect smile at the psychologist.

“En*…..” The psychologist lowered her head to write a few words on the notebook – ‘No cause, no reason for being happy.’

* 嗯 is a word with a lot of meaning; it can mean ‘ok’, ‘yeah’, ‘what’, or even be an onomatopoeia for a moan. The meaning behind this ‘en’ is more like ‘I see…’ (if anyone wants to sound it out in their heads, it’s sorta like ‘hm’, without the ‘h’ and ‘m’ sounds being clear)

Song Yan had immediately caught this subtle ‘En…’, and felt he’d best still request for some outside help. He excused himself to go to the washroom and thus temporarily slipped out.

He gave Yu Ze a call from inside the stall of the washroom and hurriedly gave him a rough explanation of the overall situation.

“The psychologist’s ‘En….’, what do you think it meant?”

Yu Ze promptly asked, “Are you certain it’s ‘En….’? It might be ‘En!’ or ‘En?’ or ‘En↗'”

Song Yan replied, “I’m certain it’s ‘En…’ but I don’t mind if you En* a few more times.”

* the en sound of a moan ~ naughty, naughty Song Yan ><

They didn’t continue to blather nonsense. Yu Ze said, “You have to remedy it after you go back. Look for some reason, say something good, something happy, but not too overly happy. Just say that recently Yu Xin came back, and so you’ve been feeling good lately.”

“Are you sure this would work?” Song Yan asked.

Yu Ze said, “Whether or not it would work, we can only go with this. And also, don’t you again try to entice the psychologist with your smile, she won’t fall for it!”

“I didn’t try to entice her!” Song Yan protested.

Yu Ze hung up the phone with a click. Song Yan looked at the cell phone, and could only helplessly return back to where the psychologist was.

He sat back down, deciding to be more frank with the psychologist.

“To tell the truth, I’ve fallen in love recently.”

Half an hour later, all of the tests had all been finished, and Song Yan had passed everything without a hitch. He immediately told Yu Ze this piece of good news as soon as he could.

“How’re you going to thank me?” Song Yan asked.

Although the result was satisfactory, Yu Ze was still somewhat curious as to what Song Yan had told the psychologist in the end, in order to pass the test.

“This secret,” Song Yan replied, “you’ll know it only when you go to the psychologist yourself.”
