SBHA Chapter 4

T/N: Surprise chapter. Because receiving the first comment on my translations made me so happy that I had enough energy to translate and edit a chapter completely from scratch. This chapter is also for those that liked, followed and rated this work. Thank you for your support. (deep bow)

At the moment, asking “why?” wouldn’t lead to a definite answer, and so the two of them could only think about “what to do?”.

They replayed the situation that happened.

“We were shaking hands at the time of the earthquake,” Yu Ze began.

“What were you thinking of when shaking hands?” Song Yan asked, “Any feeling?”

“Did not feel much. What should I have felt?” He thought that even if it was Second Young Master Song, this was a bit too narcissistic a question.

Song Yan replied, “I didn’t feel much either.”

It was just an ordinary handshake, the both of them were even half-hearted as they shook their hands. It was simply not enough for the heavens to fall and the earth to rend*.

*天崩地裂 a phase; when the sky falls and the earth opens up; sentence means that the handshake wasn’t enough for be the reason the disaster occurred

Song Yan continued to recall: “Then I went to the exit. Something under my feet tripped me, and I fell and hit someone…”

“So it wasn’t to save Qiao Ruo Ming?” Yu Ze suddenly asked.

“What? Who said I…” Song Yan looked at Yu Ze using his own face to let out a wisp of a teasing smile. He immediately changed his words, “The situation was very messy, and I fell because I was in a hurry to catch Xiao Qiao.”

“Then you fell on me, knocked me out. Thankfully your bodyguard was still there,” Yu Ze continued.

Song Yan contemplated for a moment. “So our souls were switched because we experienced a fierce impact during the earthquake?”

Yu Ze couldn’t resist ridiculing him. “Is the soul something so easily knocked out?”

Song Yan suddenly turned to size up Yu Ze – that is, his own body. Yu Ze took a step backwards. “What do you want to do?”

“Simulate an earthquake environment,” Song Yan said, “and then we…”. His hands collided. He was already quickly drawing up a scheme. “The Research & Development workplace at my big brother’s company should have the ability to simulate earthquakes. We need to go try!”

Yu Ze expressed his complete agreement, only that they had to wait for some time. He pointed at the cast on his arm. Well, unless Song Yan wanted to render both of his arms cripple.

The two of them right now were both burdened with wounds, if they impatiently went ahead with the attempt, it may not only be ineffective, but also dangerous.

Yu Ze examined the conditions of their injuries and said, “It will probably take just over a month before we could try.”

Song Yan couldn’t help clutching his chest. That feeling of being unable to breath seemed about to come again.

“Have to wait for just over a month…” he angrily said. “I don’t even know if I can hold on for just over a month!”

Yu Ze immediately patted him on the back: “Calm down, calm down.”

“Also Omega, also asthma. I sure got lucky.” Song Yan couldn’t help but be sarcastic.

“Asthma is my old problem, and the production team all know. As for being Omega, that is my private business, and it has never affected my work before.” Yu Ze explained for himself.

“You lied to the public,” Song Yan ruthlessly jabbed at him.

Yu Ze laughed. “I only concealed my attribute, never have I publicly claimed that I was Alpha.”

As the development of Omega estrus inhibitors became more technologically mature, Omegas could now work as normal. Since about 30 years ago, more and more large companies had added clauses in their contracts to protect attribute privacy. That is, the three attributes of A/B/O could be hidden on the resume. When applying for a job, employees could not be forced by the company to report their attributes. After having gotten the job, employees also could not be dismissed by the company for problems concerning their attributes.

So up until now, all large companies had tactfully approved of this regulation.

It was just that there were still many small private companies, or part-time jobs, that required one to report their attribute. There was also often a voice in society calling for the clear disclosure of everyone’s attribute.

The entertainment circle though, was somewhat different from the other industries. The purpose of the entertainment circle was to make stars, and was where no effort was spared to exhibit personal charms. Therefore, the older generation of celebrities were all very happy to divulge their attributes. The entertainment circle was also one of the few industries where Omegas could compete with Alphas, and was even perhaps an industry where a Beta may even feel inferior.

When Yu Ze debuted, it was just when the public opinion supported the labor regulation. The atmosphere of the entertainment industry was also changing, with many young people all choosing not to disclose their attributes. Therefore, Yu Ze never went public about his attribute.

It was just that to the film enthusiasts and fans, a celebrity not going public was instead more mysterious, and made more people curious. The attributes of many celebrities could be seen at a glance. For example, an action star; basically a first-rate Alpha. And the many soft and cute popular idols were, of course, Omega.

So, there had always been two kinds of conjectures about Yu Ze’s attribute.

One was of course, Alpha. He was tall, handsome and calm. Like the gentlemanly Alpha.

Another guess was Beta. Because Yu Ze had a neutral charm, his voice had a soothing energy. This made many unconsciously become obsessed with him. This feeling of not-like-Alpha and not-like-Omega, could only of course be done by a Beta.

So it was no wonder that Song Yan didn’t expect Yu Ze to be an Omega.

He grumbled, “I wasn’t wrong. People perfect on the outside sure all hide secrets.”

Yu Ze smiled. “Thank you.”

Even if Song Yan again got upset, he could only temporarily accept the reality – or at least accept the reality of the ‘just over a month’.

“Now we should take this moment to get acquainted with each other. Talk about the things we should pay attention to for the next month or so.” Yu Ze suggested.

Song Yan pointed to his body: “Me, a billionaire, no restrictions. But! That’s me. For you though, it’s best you don’t do anything this month…”

“Have you even properly worked before?” Yu Ze asked.

Song Yan pressed a hand to his chest. Yu Ze at once expressed that it was himself in the wrong; he shouldn’t bicker with him during such a solemn discussion.

Song Yan continued, “My assistant is Fang Yuan, if there is anything, you look for her. You tell her to kill someone, she will do it for you. But you can’t…”

Yu Ze proceeded, “I know, don’t do anything, including murder.”

“But you can’t treat my body too badly,” Song Yan couldn’t help but longingly touch his own shoulder, “Recuperate properly, hurry and get better soon.”

Yu Ze then remembered that Song Qi had been there, and so he passed Song Qi’s words on to Song Yan. “He has business at Frankfurt. Your mother will come take you after you are discharged tonight. It should be to take you home to recuperate.”

“No! You can’t live in my house!” Song Yan promptly said.

He was firm in opposition.

“A person using my body, being by my mother’s side. That’s just like a horror movie!” He repeatedly rejected, “Don’t get close to my family, let alone get deeper into the Song family!”

“My mother is very busy. It’s just a thought of hers,” Song Yan told Yu Ze, “She won’t object as long as you insist on living in your own villa.”

Song Yan had several properties in the city, but he didn’t want to let Yu Ze live in them. In fact, Yu Ze was of the same thought. They both didn’t want to let strangers live in their own homes; it would be almost impossible to control if the other person took a further step to peek into his privacy.

In the end, for the sake of being fair, the two decided to find a new residence after being discharged from the hospital. Rent two villas not too far apart; then there would be no concerns about privacy, and would also be convenient for communication.

Song Yan again talked about some work-related matters.

“My job is very simple, most of it is related to social networking. You show your face in public, and don’t talk nonsense!”

Yu Ze raised his hand, indicating he had a question.

“What’s the problem?” Song Yan asked, “You are the Film Emperor. It’s impossible that you can’t even handle such a simple job!”

“It’s like this,” Yu Ze began, “You told me not to talk nonsense, but in fact the real you often talks nonsense. I suddenly stop talking, isn’t that too unlike you?”

Song Yan was speechless, he opened his mouth, but words wouldn’t come out. The crafty angle on this question of Yu Ze’s, made him wonder if he ought to scold him or not.

Fortunately, Yu Ze solved the problem for him: “Then how about this, I won’t talk nonsense. But if you have anything you want to say using your identity, then tell me, and I’ll help you say it?”

Song Yan finally nodded. Speaking of this, they made a series of agreements on the topic of social accounts. They would manage their own accounts themselves. No one was allowed to make comments on the other’s social account without the other party’s consent!

After handling Song Yan’s family and work, Yu Ze also had several requests for Song Yan.

“In the earthquake, the crew and the actors were all injured. The studio will definitely not be available for the time being. The crew estimates that that the filming would stop for a month or two.”

“That’s too great!” Song Yan said.

Yu Ze glanced at him, and Song Yan added, “Don’t blame me, I really can’t act.”

“At present, we can only hope that we can return to normal after one or so months.” Yu Ze said.

They settled a few more everyday issues. At the end, Song Yan couldn’t help but touch on the ultimate issue regarding privacy. He had to ask.

“You are Omega, have you… been marked? You don’t have a secret partner, do you?” Song Yan was a little nervous.

Yu Ze shook his head. “No.”

Song Yan almost cheered, he finally showed a wide smile. “Thank heavens, finally one more thing that didn’t go wrong.”

On the topic of attributes though, in contrast to Song Yan’s joy, Yu Ze’s expression became heavier.

“I really did not expect to be in an Alpha’s body,” he said, “much less, in your body. I really do not know how to deal with it…”

Song Yan really couldn’t bear it. Yu Ze actually used his body to say such resentful words! That his full-of-Alpha-beauty body could unexpectedly be disliked by a full-of-sickness Omega!

“What are you talking about? Don’t tell me you don’t enjoy it?” Song Yan asked, his voice pitched low. It wasn’t much, but everything of his was better than the Film Emperor’s; it was only his voice though that was not even the Film Emperor’s equal. Now, using this type of voice to say such lines, it was actually quite enjoyable.

Yu Ze was helpless. “Do you think I should enjoy your ‘full of beauty, full of color’* life of an Alpha? How many Omegas have you marked? How am I to deal with them?”

* 多姿多彩 full of beauty, full of color; as in a colorful lifestyle, a diverse life, but Yu Ze was mocking him for a colorful sexual life. I really wasn’t sure how to translate this, because I felt that the word “colorful” or “diverse” didn’t have enough of a sexual undertone, so I left it as is

Song Yan paused and said, “No.”

For a while, Yu Ze didn’t understand, or maybe it was that he understood, but he just couldn’t believe it.

“No what?”

According to legend, the Second Young Master Song had already marked countless people. He had started marking Omegas from when he was eighteen. Anyways, the Song family was large and it’s business was large; it was almost nothing to raise a couple of idle people. Second Young Master Song could even mark an entire harem!

And now Song Yan was in front of him saying “I don’t have”.

Yu Ze looked at his own face, at the furrowed eyebrows. The spoken tone had been quite serious.

But he couldn’t help again asking, “No what?”

Song Yan again paused, like he was impatient but also like he was somewhat awkward, before he said, “I haven’t marked an Omega before. So, you don’t have to worry if any Omega wants you to be responsible.”

Yu Ze hadn’t expected this kind of development at all. “Why…” he asked.

Song Yan glared at him. “Not allowed to ask why!”

Yu Ze didn’t ask further. He thought that indeed, Song Yan had not asked much about his identity as an Omega and about being marked. So, therefore he also didn’t need to ask Song Yan about why he hadn’t marked.

The two of them exchanging bodies was already scary enough, but if they also had to explain each other’s internal thoughts, then their relationship would be a bit too weird.

Although there are still many things that they had yet to clarify, but the matters were all roughly arranged.

Both agreed to temporarily recuperate from their injuries, and to go to try the experiment after one and a half – two at the latest – months had passed.

Song Yan left Yu Ze’s ward. A nurse accompanied him back to his own room. In the corridor, Qiao Ruo Ming brushed past him.

“Ah!” said Song Yan.

Qiao Ruo Ming pretended to only just see him. He turned his head and greeted, “Teacher Yu.”

Song Yan had to say, he really liked Qiao Ruo Ming’s expressive* energy. Nowadays, the pure and delicate Omega was no longer popular.

*表里表氣 showing outside what he is feeling inside; means expressive, but I really wanted to translate it as “transparent” but……transparent spirit/energy/vigor is just weird. But Song Yan basically likes Qiao Ruo Ming because he “easily” shows his thoughts on his face, and Song Yan thinks that this is a strength of his

He couldn’t help but smile. “Xiao Qiao, does the place where you got stitches still hurt?”

Song Yan knew that he now had Yu Ze’s appearance, but this did not prevent him from expressing friendship and concern.

But in Qiao Ruo Ming’s view, this became “friendly” and “caring” – the type with double quotes. To translate, the meaning was: “I am laughing so happily because I was just with Song Yan just now. You must have scars after the few stitches on your body, hehehe truly deserved.”

Qiao Ruo Ming bit his lip, and only then could he squeeze out a smile. “Thank you, Teacher Yu, for your concern. My little injury is nothing. I heard that Teacher Yu had a concussion? Why don’t you lie down and rest?”

Song Yan said, “I…that…actually…”

He gestured wildly, twice, before finally saying, “Forget it.”

No matter what he said at this time, Qiao Ruo Ming would not be nice to “Yu Ze”. What’s more, why would he want Qiao Ruo Ming to treat Yu Ze well?

Song Yan walked past, and he once again looked back at Qiao Ruo Ming. Qiao Ruo Ming was still standing by the window, and the direction of his gaze was at “Second Young Master Song’s” ward.

Author has something to say:
Mutual dislike-ing*
Today’s is a thick and long chapter
* ing was written in english

Translator has something to say:
This chapter was really tough for me to translate. It was really dry and quite “thick and long” (longer by a full three pages on Word). But I also really wanted this chapter out ASAP, as it finally wraps up the introduction, and we could finally dive into the plot.

And also, it was this chapter that made me decide to translate this novel, because:
(1) I was very impressed with the characters’ maturity. I was so happy that Song Yan didn’t grab onto Yu Ze and be like “that’s my body, I’m watching you, you come live with me right now”. And I liked the subtle contrast between the care each of the boys have for their own body, and their dislike for the other.
(2) I was impressed with the characterization. I could clearly feel that Song Yan is like the gas pedal, while Yu Ze is like the brake. While one zooms forward, the other tip-toes forward. So therefore, after editing, Song Yan would be the one to say “don’t”, while Yu Ze would be the one to say “do not”. I hope I conveyed that bit of their personality. >.<

Also, is it confusing when I switch between Song Er Gongzi and Second Young Master Song? I do try to minimize switching, but using Second Young Master Song, Second Young Master Song….it’s a mouthful. For example, Second Young Master Song’s vs Song Er Gongzi’s. Please vote/comment below ~~~I will edit the chapters again after I check the result next week.

Taking at least a week’s break before I continue. I’ve been running from reality too much this week XD
Hugs and kisses to all the readers! See you at Chapter 5 ~
Comments are also always appreciated! They really make me really, really happy! (But…..please don’t expect any more surprise chapters before next week XD)

Laozhi! If I translate as: “Your father, I, am blahblahblah” , would that be better? (for future XD reference only… sorry, I’m just curious >.<) Thank you dear ~!
