SBHA Chapter 3 v2

Chapter 3. This Matter Must Not Fall Short

The two were finally face to face.

Yu Ze looked at the person in front of him; at his own furrowed brows, at his own eyes that glowered back at himself.

Unable to bear it, he opened his mouth, “Please don’t make that face.”

Song Yan was struck with disbelief. Their bodies had even been switched, and what Yu Ze cared about was the expression on his face? As expected of the Film Emperor!

“If you keep making that angry expression,” Yu Ze continued to explain, “It will lead to changes to the lines of the face, giving off more hostility. It is too different from the temperament of the character I am now acting. You should know, I am acting as…”

Song Yan interrupted him: “No! Yes! So you’re saying I go act for you?”

For the first time ever, Yu Ze couldn’t look directly at his own face. It was like he was looking at a very strange mirror; the person in the mirror looked like himself, but bared his fangs and brandished his claws* just like a brainless teenager. He didn’t like himself being so emotional, but he couldn’t – and wouldn’t – say it out, for fear of further upsetting Second Young Master Song.

* 張牙舞爪 bare fangs and brandish claws; to make threatening gestures

“You’re right. Now is indeed not the time to discuss acting,” Yu Ze calmly replied. “The question at the moment is, why did this happen and how to change back.”

Song Yan’s face was still pale, but it was still a bit better than his ashen look just before.

“That’s of course!”

As he now faced Yu Ze, he could finally vent. He raised his hands and, full of grief and resentment, asked the heavens, “Why, why did I go to the studio today! Why did there just happen to be an earthquake! Why was it you and me…”

He suddenly paused. He felt the air in his lungs suddenly rapidly deplete and, like a drowning man, he began to pant for air. His body went soft as he fell.

Yu Ze quickly went to support him, but he found that the cast on his right arm limited his movement. He could only then use his left hand to awkwardly draw Song Yan over and then, with great effort, propped him onto the sofa.

Song Yan had never felt so suffocated before, his complexion quickly changed from pale to red. He clutched at his chest, gasped for air like a fish on land, but no matter how hard he tried, he just couldn’t get enough air.

“I…am I going to die…” His voice was full of despair.

Yu Ze tenderly patted his own head. “You won’t die. It’s only your body protesting. You cannot be too impatient, emotional or anxious during estrus. Or else you will have an asthma attack.”

Song Yan gasped and wheezed until his eyes almost rolled back into his head.

“You…call……call a doctor….”

He furiously cursed at Yu Ze in his heart. Here he was about to suffocate to death, and Yu Ze was still there preaching! Was it that he wanted to watch him sicken and die, and then smoothly take over his body and status!?

Yu Ze knew his body best, so he had already expected and prepared for the episode. He quickly grabbed the inhaler from the coffee table, gave it a few thorough shakes, then held it to Song Yan’s mouth. He supported his head, and gave him a few puffs; his movement smooth and practiced.

Song Yan inhaled the mist, and finally felt as if he was gradually becoming alive. But as his body was still extremely exhausted, he could only lie down to recover.

Yu Ze helped adjust Song Yan into a more comfortable position. His voice was soft, “I told you already, don’t be impatient, don’t get emotional.”

“Then what did you do when you act?” Song Yan weakly asked.

“This isn’t the time to talk about acting,” Yu Ze replied.

They had temporarily reached an impasse.

So what Fang Yuan saw when she came in, was this:

Second Young Master Song sat on the sofa, while Film Emperor Yu Ze quietly laid there, his head pillowed on the other’s thigh, his eyes closed as he rested. Second Young Master Song even had an incomparably indulging tone as he whispered, “Is it unbearable? Do you need another breath?”

Fang Yuan was so startled, that she almost dropped her tablet on her foot.

When Second Young Master Song had headed out that morning, he had said that he was going to see Qiao Ruo Ming, that he was going to show his support. Then the earthquake happened, and several hours later, now lying in his arms was…Yu Ze?

Even though the saying goes “a friend in need, is a friend indeed”*, but wasn’t this a bit too quick?

* 患難見真情 proverb; a person who helps at a difficult time is a person who you can really rely on

For some time now, the Second Young Master Song had been showing favor for Qiao Ruo Ming, and so towards the Yu Ze that firmly pressed Qiao Ruo Ming down, he had always been extremely displeased.

But more importantly, since when had Second Young Master Song ever been so gentle to anyone?

The scene was warm to the point that Fang Yuan got goosebumps, and she again felt that Second Young Master Song was as ever deep and unfathomable.

On seeing Fang Yuan enter, “Second Young Master Song” raised his head, “What?”

He also gently pushed at “Yu Ze’s” shoulder.

Only then did “Yu Ze” open his eyes, lazily swept her a glance, and then very slowly shifted away from “Second Young Master Song”.

Fang Yuan really couldn’t stand it anymore – how had she always thought that the Film Emperor was a pure and clean-living Film Emperor! What was with that look of pampered indolence!*

*basically a lazy look that comes from being spoiled

Only her professionalism allowed her to maintain her perfect smile. “Mr. Song, the several meetings from this afternoon have all been pushed back. Are they to be postponed or cancelled? And also, do you want to allow visits? The list of names has already been sent to your phone.”

Yu Ze glanced at the real Second Young Master Song next to him. He was calmly studying the inhaler that had just eased his suffering, almost as if he didn’t care at all.

“Okay, I know.” Yu Ze replied carelessly, “I don’t want to see anyone today, and need rest.”

Fang Yuan again mentioned the company’s planned schedule. It seemed that Second Young Master Song had two companies and several non-profits under his name. Yu Ze decided to leave everything for her and the company’s subordinates to handle – he felt that the Song family conglomerate must be so full of competent people that, even if Song Yan had really remained in a coma, its operation wouldn’t have even ceased.

The Song Yan next to him fortunately had no objection.

After Fang Yuan finished talking about the business, she added, “Qiao Ruo Ming is on the third floor, he wants to see you.”

Upon hearing Qiao Ruo Ming’s name, Song Yan suddenly raised his head, “Call him over!”

For a moment he had forgotten that he was in the body of the Film Emperor.

From what Fang Yuan could see, when she mentioned Qiao Ruo Ming, the Film Emperor had become excited before Second Young Master Song’s expression could even change.
What did this mean? A coming showdown? A declaration of ownership?

From Fang Yuan’s face: “Okay.”

From Fang Yuan’s heart: “Just like fuel to the flames.”*

* 看熱鬧不嫌事大 adding fuel to the flames; an idiom, to make matters worse; because Fang Yuan thinks that “Yu Ze” wants to declare ownership over “Song Yan”, so therefore adding Qiao Ruo Ming who likes “Song Yan” into the mix…would probably make a bloodbath XD

Yu Ze felt that at that time, he should discuss with Song Yan about the affairs that would follow, and not drag a Qiao Ruo Ming into the mix.

“Do you think this is appropriate?” He calmly asked Song Yan.

Song Yan turned his head over, and saw his reflection in the window – he now had the appearance of the Film Emperor. So even if Xiao Qiao* came, he was unlikely to show a nice attitude towards him. And besides, what would the three of them do together?

*xiao means little, added to show closeness, a bit like a nickname; basically Little Qiao

“Forget it,” he said, reluctantly.

Yu Ze turned to Fang Yuan, “Tell Qiao Ruo Ming that I want to rest.”

Fang Yuan smiled: “Okay.”

Fang Yuan’s heart: “Why did the Second Young Master ask Yu Ze for his opinion? No, when did the Second Young Master willingly listen to other people?” This drama was too fast, she almost couldn’t keep up!

She maintained propriety and left the room, leaving behind the two men to continue their two-person world.

Upon leaving the suite, she walked to the head of the stairs, only to see the young man who had just came upstairs. It was Qiao Ruo Ming.

Fang Yuan held his arm, turned around, and sent him back downstairs.

Qiao Ruo Ming felt that something was wrong. “How’s Song Yan? Is he seriously injured? I want to see him.”

Fang Yuan replied, “Mr. Song was only slightly injured, but the doctor said he needs rest and quiet. As the earthquake was major, there are still many things to arrange.”

Qiao Ruo Ming was not tall, and with a baby face, red lips and white teeth, he was at one glance the epitome of an Omega. But even if he looked like a Western doll, his personality could be said to be the direct opposite of naïve.

He glanced at Fang Yuan suspiciously, and asked, “I heard that Yu Ze is also here, is that true? Song Yan really took Yu Ze here?”

Fang Yuan of course wouldn’t give him a direct answer. She feigned ignorance, “I don’t know. Ever since the accident, I’ve been busy adjusting Mr. Song’s schedule. My, it’s all a mess.”

It was no good for Qiao Ruo Ming to throw a tantrum at Song Yan’s capable assistant, and so he could only temporarily hide the anger in his heart.

Yu Ze – was a big, living person, was also a big celebrity. That he’d been transferred to this hospital, and seen by so many people; how could it possibly be his mistake?

Qiao Ruo Ming didn’t think that Song Yan had anything to do with Yu Ze at the moment. It was just that the special treatment that had solely belonged to him, was no longer just for him. And he was not happy about that.

Qiao Ruo Ming and Song Yan were still in that period of ambiguous flirting.

Ever since the beginning, Qiao Ruo Ming had deliberately left Second Young Master Song hanging. He felt that if he let the Second Young Master succeed too easily; then they would just be an act, just a fling. It was only by putting out a long fishing line, would one catch the fish. But he also had a secret that he’d kept hiding from him. Only after Second Young Master Song had deep enough affection for him, only then would he confess.

Recently, Qiao Ruo Ming had felt that he could reel in the line, but Second Young Master Song seemed to enjoy the whole game of fishing and was not even a bit hurried.

And so Qiao Ruo Ming started to become anxious. He had wanted to take advantage of Second Young Master Song’s visit, and first get him drunk in one go. He didn’t think that today he would encounter this…

The gears in Qiao Ruo Ming’s small, clever brain began to turn, and he decided to seek another plan. But this time he couldn’t come short, and let the Second Young Master, this Arowana*, slip away.

*Arowana, an endangered but high-demand fish, could cost $300,000; a symbol of wealth

At this moment though, the real Second Young Master Song and the real Yu Ze were facing each other; face with the other’s face, and facing his own body. They needed to properly analyze the situation, along with the strategy for the future.
