Chapter 6. Yu Ze’s Head Hurt

Yu Ze’s head hurt.

He completely hadn’t expected that, not even twenty four hours after they’d exchanged bodies, Song Yan would dig such a big hole for him.

Last night, he’d even tossed and turned for quite a while, thinking about Song Yan’s mother and her wish to divorce.

There were all sorts of comments underneath this piece of hot news. Of course most were praising the Film Emperor’s compassion, but there were also some that called the headline into question. This was because Yu Ze hadn’t donated a sum as large as ten million back when there had been more severe disasters in the past. Not to mention that this was also the first time Yu Ze got caught up in an earthquake, and as he’d also donated such a huge sum, many felt that he was using the chance for publicity.

But no matter how it was put, as long as the actor really did donate 10 million, it certainly was a good thing.

At twelve o’clock noon, Yu Ze and Song Yan agreed to meet at the pub-restaurant.

Yu Ze arrived first and he waited for Song Yan in the box. Bodyguards stood guard outside, ensuring that no one would disturb them.

Song Yan seemed to be in a good mood when he came in. He was wearing a pair of sunglasses, which he only took off when he entered the box. Yu Ze looked at the him beaming with happiness. He obviously didn’t feel as if he had done anything wrong, or perhaps he was happy that he had made trouble.

“I made it very clear, to donate one million.”

“I thought you missed a zero,” Song Yan replied.

Yu Ze wanted to sigh. Song Yan was bold and self-confident; if he wanted to do something, he would just do it. One million and ten million only differed by a zero for Second Young Master Song; the huge sum of ten million was probably barely enough for him to have a bit of fun.

But Yu Ze had another interpretation about this. He felt that Song Yan was probably still in a state of “shock” from which he had yet to recover. And so he wanted to vent his emotions to prove that he was still the Second Young Master Song who could call the wind and summon the rain* as he wished.

* 呼風喚雨 to call the wind, and summon the rain; to call natural disasters to help him; this also means to make trouble as he wished

After he thought that argument through, it seemed that there really was nothing to be angry at Song Yan for. The most critical problem was that the 10 million donated really hurt his financial situation, and so he must let Song Yan realize the seriousness of this problem.

“Although Du Xin Ran is clearer about my financial situation, didn’t he tell you clearly?” Yu Ze calmly asked.

Song Yan hadn’t expected that Yu Ze was still stuck on this issue, but this sentence sounded a bit bad.

“What’s wrong with your financial situation?” Song Yan asked, “Donating 10 million shouldn’t be a burden for you, right?”

“I originally did not want to explain these things,” Yu Ze began, “But since you are like this, I have no choice but to tell you… I’m very conservative in financial management. Apart from buying a few houses, I’m just like a 60 years old aunt in that I only like to buy gold. I do not like business, and other than running a small theater company back when I first debuted, I have never opened any company. My income is other then the remuneration, just the endorsement fee from advertisements, so my wealth will not suddenly increase. In contrast, my expenditure is very large, after all, I have a team working for me; commissions for brokers and public relations, the salaries for the assistants, stylist, driver, and bodyguard, and also taxes, for interpersonal relations and for the management of the media. Asides from the team, there is still my family.”

Song Yan blinked, “Your family? I thought you were a bachelor.”

An unmarked Omega, where did the family come from?

“My parents,” Yu Ze explained, “along with several younger siblings.”

This was the first time Song Yan heard of such a celebrity, he was almost like a Superman* in raising his whole family.

“No way…you support them all?” He muttered.

* Song Yan used the term “athlete” instead of “Superman”, but as the general meaning is that Yu Ze is someone who is strong and carries/supports the family all by himself, I thought Superman would be a more fitting word

“That isn’t the case,” Yu Ze replied, “It is just to provide them with more comfortable options. And my youngest sister is still studying, she is studying art abroad, and the tuition and living expenses are covered by me.”

“Isn’t that just another way of saying you raise them?” Song Yan asked.

Yu Ze didn’t argue at his question about the wording. He only said, “Answering on the behalf of the ten million yuan, therefore, that’s right, donating ten million yuan at once has already caused a burden on me.”

Song Yan was silent for a while, and suddenly seemed to be a bit more clear-headed. He began to realize that he’d been thoughtless, all just for the pleasure of a moment. Yu Ze so straightforwardly confessing the financial burden had also made him a bit speechless.

He even felt a little sorry for Yu Ze – it turned out that Yu Ze wasn’t as generous as he thought. And what was with that financial management skill at the level of the middle-aged or elderly…

“Well…” He began slowly, “I can reimburse you nine million.”

“This isn’t a question of whether or not you reimburse.” Yu Ze said.

“I won’t make you feel burdened.” Song Yan insisted.

Yu Ze was helpless, “How to reimburse? You cannot give me nine million for no reason.”

Song Yan laughed, “You are now the Second Young Master of the Song Family, just call, then ask the Song Group or a partner to give you an advertisement. How much does your endorsement cost? With tax deduction, nine million should be coverable? How do you think Qiao Ruo Ming came across that furniture ad?”

In Second Young Master Song’s opinion, this problem was easily solved.

Yu Ze mood became slightly better. Song Yan at least had some willingness to compensate. Although it was a bit of a speculative approach, it was at least better than not admitting wrong.

However, he did not intend to make this call using his current identity of “Second Young Master Song”, especially after he knew how Qiao Ruo Ming’s advertisement came about.

“But,” Song Yan couldn’t help but ask, “donating this ten million won’t it put you in the spotlight? It’s still worth it having this public opinion and reputation.”

“I actually do not want others to pay too much attention to things outside of my work,” Yu Ze explained, ” Maybe it’s a bit contradictory…”

“What contradiction?” Song Yan asked.

Yu Ze shook his head, it was too difficult for him to explain it all at once to Song Yan. And Song Yan also didn’t need to figure it out. Only they themselves knew their own lives best.

They started talking while eating.

“In short, next time there is a similar situation, please listen to Old Du’s opinion,” Yu Ze again requested of Song Yan, “He is a very reliable person. We have been cooperating for many years.”

“I don’t like him.” Song Yan said.

Yu Ze laughed. “You don’t need to like him, just spend the month and a half without trouble. Don’t be so childish.”

Song Yan stilled. He used to be annoyed when others called him childish, but when Yu Ze said so, he didn’t feel annoyed at all. Perhaps it was because he’d never seen this sort of smile on his own face. The face didn’t even seem to look like himself, or even like a twin; it was more like that of a completely different person.

To cover up his pause, Song Yan picked up the red wine, and tried to pour himself a glass. Yu Ze stopped him, “You are still recuperating, don’t drink.”

Song Yan didn’t care, “Just a bit.”

Yu Ze lowered his voice, “You can’t drink alcohol after taking the inhibitor. Did you take the inhibitor today?”

Song Yan’s hand trembled and he almost spilled the wine.

“What else can’t I do. Can’t you say it all at once?” He angrily bit out.

Yu Ze poured him a glass of juice. “There’s something I must tell you. But you have to calm down and listen to me.”

“What? You fancy one of the nurses?” Song Yan joked.

“I met your parents last night,” Yu Ze said.

He first relayed Song Ruo Zuo’s request – contact the designer and redo the garden glass roof.

“No problem,” Song Yan replied, “I’ll give you the contact information of the designer. You can leave it to Fang Yuan to communicate and ask them to make a new plan. Just that?”

Yu Ze continued, “I saw your mother, she talked with me for a long time.” Seeing Song Yan’s eyes, he quickly added, “I didn’t deliberately lead her to say anything, I said very little, she should have long wanted to tell you.”

Song Yan was finally a little nervous, “What did she say?”

“She said she was considering divorce,” Yu Ze said.

“With whom?” Song Yan asked.

“With your father,” Yu Ze replied

“En…”

After three seconds, Song Yan still hadn’t said anything.

“Are you okay?” Yu Ze asked carefully.

“She has this idea quite frequently,” Song Yan said nonchalantly, “It’s not like they haven’t quarreled before. It’s normal, but usually it’s never settled. You have to know that if they really get divorced, just by dividing their property, they can divide until the earth and heaven gets old*. Divorce my ass.”

* 天荒地老 when the earth and heaven gets old; means a long, long time

“I can imagine.” Yu Ze said, “But if you really feel sad, you’d better say it.”

“I’m not at all sad. I know her better than you. You only talked to her once,” Song Yan replied.

Yu Ze looked at his face carefully and said, “But you’d better not hold back, let alone suppress this panic. Because…”

He didn’t need to say more. Song Yan was already gasping for air.

It was useless to pretend to not to care on the surface, the asthma attack would immediately reveal the innermost thoughts.

“Did you bring the medicine?” Yu Ze immediately asked Song Yan. Song Yan shook his head. Yu Ze promptly took out the spray from his own pocket and gave Song Yan two puffs.

“What’s this….you…..” Song Yan complained as he administered the medicine, “your body is too sensitive….too sensitive feeling…”

He breathed in two mouthfuls of the medicine and calmed down.

Yu Ze’s voice was helpless. “So I told you to say it out, it will be much better if you release it.”

“It’s not how shocked I am, but your body is too…honest…” Song Yan didn’t forget to emphasize.

The meal was at this point, tasteless.

Song Yan calmed down after a while, and began to seriously think. “Is she really serious about divorcing?”

“I don’t know your mother very well,” Yu Ze replied, “But listening to her tone, should be rather sad and very determined.”

Song Yan became submerged in his own thoughts.

Yu Ze sighed and said, “I’ll take you back, I really can’t help but worry about you as a person. You absolutely will not take care of my body at all.”

“Go back?” Song Yan asked.

“Go back to my original home and previous residence,” Yu Ze replied, “The villa you rented must not be furnished yet. I want to go back with you and get some things by the way.”

Song Yan did not object.

They left the restaurant together and headed to Yu Ze’s house.
