SBHA Chapter 8

Chapter 8. Double A

The time and place for the dinner between Yu Ze and Song Yan’s mother had been fixed. When Song Yan heard this, he kept nodding in agreement.

Song Yan gave Yu Ze detailed instruction over the phone. From the relationships of other relatives of the Song Family, all the way to the topics that his mother would be interested in. He even made a list of questions to ask, and wanted Yu Ze to ask them on his behalf.

“You have too many questions,” Yu Ze reluctantly rejected him on the phone, “I can’t remember.”

“You can’t remember?” Song Yan asked, “You can’t remember? You can recite a whole book of lines, but you can’t remember my few questions?”

“I can talk to her,” Yu Ze replied, “But she is your mother, do not interrogate her like that.”

Song Yan immediately retorted, “Because I am her son, I of course have the freedom to ask questions.”

Yu Ze said nothing. Song Yan’s tone softened. “If it weren’t for the current situation, of course I wouldn’t involve you. If I could ask her myself, I wouldn’t bother you at all. So…you treat this as doing me a favor and help me… even though I still owe you nine million.”

His last sentence made Yu Ze smile.

“Okay,” Yu Ze finally said, with great reluctance.

By evening, Yu Ze had finished his preparations. His clothing was neat and he’d arranged his manner of dress so that the cast on his right arm didn’t affect his appearance. And he had also learned to heart the list of questions that Song Yan had given him. Then he boarded Second Young Master Song’s luxury car and was escorted by Second Young Master Song’s bodyguard to the Jade Palace. He was slightly earlier than the arranged time.

The restaurant manager personally waited for him, and led him to the seat with the best view. The seat was on the second floor, where one could comfortably enjoy the resident singer’s performance.

Just as Yu Ze took his seat, he suddenly found a very familiar figure just in front and to the right – himself.

Song Yan naturally also saw him and immediately walked towards him.

Yu Ze’s voice was helpless, “What are you doing! Don’t tell me you also want to listen?”*

* instead of “listen”, Yu Ze actually used the word “audit” here; like a student that sits in a lecture without taking the credits for the class XD

“I can’t be at ease, of course I want to look! Even if I can’t hear it, just glancing from a distance is also pretty good,” Song Yan defended.

They argued a bit more in soft voices, and then, just at that moment, Yu Ze saw Shen Xi Jia coming up the stairs.

“She’s here!” Yu Ze gestured for Song Yan to leave, just as if he was shooing a fly.

As he turned to leave, Song Yan mouthed the words, “I’ll be right there.”

Shen Xi Jia didn’t notice the little episode. She leisurely approached, wearing a beige dress matched with black sea pearl earrings, her hair piled up, her complexion looking rather good.

Due to the inconvenience of his hand, Yu Ze only ordered a salad and a soup. Shen Xi Jia, on the other hand, didn’t eat red meat at night and insisted on a strict Mediterranean diet. But after all, their focus today wasn’t at all the food.

“Seriously, you didn’t come to see me until today. I was even a little amazed,” Shen Xi Jia said with a smile, “You can’t hold your temper, just directly say what you want to say, I know you must be suffocated to death.”

Yu Ze thought: this was indeed, nobody understands a son better than his parents.*

* 子莫若父母 idiom; nobody understands a son better than his father and mother

He began to recite Song Yan’s question: “Are you serious? Not on an impulse?”

Shen Xi Jia patted her son’s hand. “I’m long past the impulsive age. Maybe I had an impulsive idea before but didn’t act on it. But this time, I really plan on it. I’ll also tell your father these two days. I think he should have a premonition. I will probably have a good talk with him about some of the shares I have.”

He asked a few more questions, all of which Song Yan wanted answered. One of them included the very sensitive question of: “Why? Why do you want a divorce at this time?”

Song Yan had suspected that his mother had a new relationship. But Yu Ze couldn’t really ask that.

“I think that I’ve reached the age,” Shen Xi Jia replied, “the age when I should do something that I really want to do.” She didn’t mention anyone else.

Yu Ze again asked, “What if my Dad disagrees?”

Shen Xi Jia laughed out loud. She picked up the cup, took a sip of the iced mineral water, and said, “If he disagrees, it’s also because of our collaborations and the image of the Song family. He will begin to evaluate the losses at the first moment possible. But…from the bottom of his heart, he has long wanted to divorce me, and he is just as tired about it as I am.”

Yu Ze didn’t know if he should show an injured expression at this time. He thought Song Yan might be a little hurt when he heard this. To put it like that, it was pretty strange, he’d only really known Song Yan for barely a week, but it seemed as if he understood him well.

“Oh!” Shen Xi Jia exclaimed, as if she saw an injured puppy, “Don’t do that, just as if I’d done a bad thing. You should know that my relationship with your dad is dead in name. If it wasn’t for this whole…” She gestured with her hands, as if referring to the huge commercial territory of the Song Family.

“If not for this…we’d have divorced long ago. If possible, he should want to marry the soprano, or the host, oh, there’s also that painter, have you seen the news about her exhibition? In Bo-Yuan Art Gallery, your father must’ve done his best, he made it very lively,” she complained.

Yu Ze couldn’t help but say, “I think a business marriage is the most reliable marriage.” This sentence was actually said by Song Yan, and it had left a deep impression on him.

Shen Xi Jia smiled, “It’s true in a sense. But I don’t want you to think that way. If you get married in the future, I hope you choose the one you really like. The cute type of Omega…”

As she was talking, a figure floated past their table, and then fell back.

“What a coincidence! Song Yan! Are you here too?”

Yu Ze raised his head and looked at Song Yan who was standing there, a perfect smile on his face.

Yu Ze could only grudgingly introduce them.

“This is Yu Ze, actor.” In fact, the inside is your son.

“This is my mother.”  More like your mother.

Shen Xi Jia smiled and said, “I like your movie very much…it really is a coincidence.”

Song Yan looked at Yu Ze, hard. And Yu Ze could only ask, “Do you want to sit with us?”

Shen Xi Jia’s smile deepened, her gaze drifted back and forth between her son and Yu Ze. Song Yan wasn’t polite, and immediately said, “Sure.”

After Song Yan sat down, Shen Xi Jia of course couldn’t talk about divorce in front of outsiders. Their topics became a lot relaxing, and they talked about recent movies, secret stories in the entertainment industry, and the matter of product endorsements.

The meal could be counted to be a pleasant one. Shen Xi Jia left first. When Yu Ze sent her downstairs, she said to him, “I didn’t expect you to have a relationship with Yu Ze. I thought you were with that…”

She couldn’t remember Qiao Ruo Ming’s name for a while.

“Xiao Qiao. I do like Xiao Qiao.” Yu Ze said, for Song Yan.

Shen Xi Jia gave him a look and said, “Don’t be like your dad.”

Yu Ze had no choice but to clarify again, “Me….and Teacher Yu really do not have anything between us.”

Shen Xi Jia laughed and said nothing.

Yu Ze sent Shen Xi Jia away and returned to the table. Song Yan was waiting for him there and couldn’t wait to ask, “How is it? What did she say?”

Yu Ze pinched the bridge of his nose with his fingers, and gritted out, “We are not shooting a spy film. Can you not do this… artificially create drama.”

“What do you mean?” Song Yan asked.

“Meaning, your appearance is too abrupt.” Yu Ze replied. He held back and didn’t tell Song Yan of Shen Xi Jia’s misunderstanding. Telling him wouldn’t solve anything, and may just add to Song Yan’s narcissism.

Song Yan smiled, “What, have you never had accidental meetings? You don’t believe in chance encounters? There are too many acquaintances. Isn’t it normal to encounter chances on this occasion?”

Yu Ze made him stop, “Let’s talk about business.”

He relayed Shen Xi Jia’s approximate words to Song Yan and helped him analyze it.

“She didn’t say any specific reasons. It seems that dissatisfaction with the marriage and your father has accumulated for so many years, and finally reached its limit. Do you know about the soprano, host, painter…and the rest?”

Song Yan hesitantly nodded,”I probably know.”

“Then she wants to get a divorce, what is weird about that,” Yu Ze said, “Be a little more mature. Even if they divorce, they are still your mother and father.”

Song Yan was silent for a moment, as if he was still thinking about something.

“Song Yan,” Yu Ze asked softly.

“Actually,” Song Yan suddenly said, “I showed up just to see her. What if we can’t change back?”

Yu Ze couldn’t blame him anymore. “Will not happen,” he stated.

Song Yan looked at him and said, “You can really comfort people. Really. Why are you always so calm.”

“Because I am talking about the suffering of others,” Yu Ze replied.

Song Yan laughed, “At this time, we should really have some wine. Let’s properly drink a few.” He raised the glass, which was filled with mineral water. Yu Ze smiled and clinked glasses with him.

They left the restaurant together.

Less than two hours later, a few photos appeared online, and immediately attracted attention on the social app. This was a series of sneak shots. The first photo was a selfie of a beautiful girl, but two men could be seen in the background.

The next few pictures were from a clearer angle and completely captured the two men.

The text attached to the photo was: “Today I came to Emerald Palace for dinner with my hubby. I didn’t think there would be such a surprise! Look who these two are. The two were really close and talked for a long time. I didn’t dare go up and bother.”

The people in the photo were Second Young Master Song and Yu Ze. The photo looked very ambiguous, the two people were staring at each other, seemingly full of inexpressible emotions. To add onto that, the hotel’s environment was so luxurious, it was too ideal for a date.

The candid photos of paparazzi and media could be suppressed. But the candid photos of passersby were impossible to prevent.

On Weibo, this series of photos was quickly forwarded around. This was because the two people had been rumored to be at odds. The rumors said that because of Qiao Ruo Ming, the Second Young Master Song really disliked Yu Ze.

But after the earthquake, the two went to dinner by themselves. The cast on Second Young Master Song’s arm also hadn’t yet been removed, wasn’t this forcing himself a bit much?

Everyone was shocked. What was this? The pure friendship between double A?

The most shocked was Qiao Ruo Ming, who’d been unable to contact Song Yan over the past few days. To put it differently, Song Yan had kept saying that he needed “quiet rest”. So Song Yan had rested, and rested, and in the end, had ran off to mix with Yu Ze!

Translator has something to say:
A chapter in which Song Yan is a big puppy and Yu Ze is a big softie
Also in which Song Yan proves that he can’t act and Yu Ze’s tone is always helpless (pats Yu Ze’s back)
Btw two chapters next week ~ see you next week ~

And stay safe everyone ~ if you have to go out, remember to wash your hands, wear your masks, and disinfect your bags/cell phone cases if possible.

  1. I don’t think Song Yan really liked Qiao Rou Ming that much lol. He must’ve seen him cute and an Omega at that so he had no qualms pursuing him, after all he got money. It doesn’t even take that much effort to shower him with gold. Just one of his entertainment perhaps, and as youngster he doesn’t understand yet how deep his feelings was, he doesn’t even remember him these days 😂😂
