SBHA Chapter 9

Chapter 9. The Person Without Antis, Is Called A Saint

The spread of media over the Internet was faster than one could imagine.

Yu Ze’s fans were all very concerned about Yu Ze’s recent situation. After the earthquake, Yu Ze had made a very generous donation of 10 million yuan; it was too shocking and too unlike his usual manner of doing things. This matter triggered a wave of discussion, but after everything was said and done, it was a good deed.

Of course, having dinner alone with Second Young Master Song wasn’t quite like Yu Ze either. Because Yu Ze wasn’t one of those that particularly liked to make friends with rich young masters; almost all of his relationships were with people he met through work, and even how he usually relaxed for a break was very simple.

Once the set of Jade Palace date photos came out, the reactions online were all tongue in cheek.

“One is the Film Emperor, the other is Second Young Master Song, in the end, who to choose, so troubled!”

“Both Alphas are mine!”

“The two Alphas aren’t having an affair, they’re discussing how to divide up my schedule.”

But, jokes were just jokes.

Two men occasionally having dinner together didn’t have to mean anything much, only that the relationship between the two wasn’t as bad as rumored to be. Second Young Master Song didn’t hate the Film Emperor at all.

The ones most ill at ease, were Qiao Ruo Ming’s fans. Recently, they’d even started to look forward to Qiao Ruo Ming marrying into a first-rate powerful family, becoming the legal spouse of Second Young Master Song, being escorted and protected by Second Young Master Song, and being able to call all the rain and summon all the wind* in the entertainment industry.

* 呼風喚雨 idiom; to call the wind and summon the rain; to exercise magical powers; to stir up trouble

But after the earthquake, Second Young Master Song and Qiao Ruo Ming barely interacted ……he also didn’t even press ‘like’ on Qiao Ruo Ming’s Weibo. And now, he even went to drink and be merry with Qiao Ruo Ming’s enemy.

Qiao Ruo Ming looked at the several photos that had been uploaded online, and immediately private messaged Second Young Master Song. He quickly tapped out a long paragraph.

“Why don’t you care about me anymore? When I was in the hospital, I really wanted to see you. Getting the stitches was so painful, it made me cry, but I only thought of you. Why did you go eat alone with Yu Ze, yet didn’t even look for me? You know I hate him! If you’ve changed your mind, you’ve changed a bit too fast!”

After he finished typing, he thought for a while, but still didn’t send the message.

He knew very well that, even if Song Yan was nice to him, there was not yet anything much between them. And worse, even if they did have a real relationship, Song Yan also couldn’t mark him.

No matter what, he and Song Yan were simply not equal.

Song Yan could pull away at any time. But for himself, if he made a wrong move, he could very well lose Song Yan forever.

Qiao Ruo Ming slowly deleted the paragraph of interrogating questions – word by word. He had to calm down and carefully recall the events of the past few days. The day before the earthquake, he and Song Yan had been fine and had talked about the visit the next day.

He hadn’t done anything wrong, but he couldn’t ruin his own chance…at least he couldn’t rush to question Song Yan at this time.

Qiao Ruo Ming thought that he would just take it as an early adjustment for the future – even if he could really marry Song Yan, in no way would he be the only one kept by Song Yan after the marriage. Song Yan would definitely flirt around as usual. Cheating, extramarital affairs, and raising a child out of wedlock were the norm for the rich and powerful. A wealthy man that didn’t cheat, was probably rarer than a giant panda.

Qiao Ruo Ming took another look at the Yu Ze in the photo. He only felt that the more he looked, the more Yu Ze seemed eager to publicize; and that the more he looked, the more Yu Ze seemed pleased with himself. It was like he was showing off in front of everyone.

He thought and thought, and called up a mutual friend of him and Song Yan.

Just at that moment, Song Yan was in the process of calling Yu Ze. Everyone had seen the photos online. But no matter how it was said, it was still better to be photographed eating, than to be photographed going in and out of the villa together.

Song Yan hadn’t paid much attention to Yu Ze’s news and gossip before, but this time he had kept an eye out and found out that Yu Ze also had his share of anti-fans.

“I thought your public favorability was high, but I didn’t think there would still be antis.” Song Yan said as he scrolled through the comments.

Yu Ze was amused, “The person without anti-fans, is called a saint. As for the remarks of these outsiders, I don’t really care much.”

“Outsiders?”

“Outside of television and film,” Yu Ze explained, “The evaluation of the film and of the work itself is most important to me.”

Song Yan suddenly laughed.

“What’s wrong?” Yu Ze asked.

“I saw an anti-fan call you Yu Beauty,” Song Yan replied, “Why would an anti call you Yu Beauty? So cute.”

He thought of Yu Beauty, which was surprisingly somewhat fitting, in a literal sense. Yu Ze’s last name was Yu, and he was indeed beautiful.

“I don’t really understand either,” Yu Ze said, “Probably felt that I am not an Alpha full of masculine charm.”

Song Yan couldn’t help but curse, “What kind of weird logic is that!”

He was even about to get angry for real.

Asides from the issue of the health problems, the beauty of his current body wasn’t something that belonged specifically to any one of the three attributes.

Yu Ze didn’t talk more about himself, he instead asked how Song Yan was feeling and if he was still worrying about his mother’s divorce.

Song Yan was no longer still struggling with the issue at this point, but he still felt the demons and gods at work* as he asked back,”Are you worried?”

* 鬼使神差 idiom; demons and gods at work; unexpected happening, curious coincidence

There was silence from Yu Ze’s side. While he couldn’t say he was very worried about Song Yan, he felt that Song Yan was the kind of person who hadn’t experienced any setbacks, and now that things were crashing together, he hoped that Song Yan’s mentality wouldn’t break down.

He’d yet to speak, when Song Yan chuckled, twice, and opened his mouth first, “Are you worried that I’ll have asthma again? It’s okay, I’m feeling much better after seeing my mom in person today. You’re right, it’s her life, it’s not for to me to decide. And……she was rather happy talking with you.”

Yu Ze couldn’t help but smile as he replied, “That’s good. I will help you keep an eye out, see if there is anything else.”

Although Song Yan couldn’t see the other’s appearance over the phone, he somehow felt that he was smiling. He also couldn’t help but lower his voice as he answered, “Thank you for today…….good night.”

The period of estrus was over. Song Yan had a very deep and sound sleep.

Yu Ze knew that his body would feel better after the estrus passed, and that the number of asthma attacks would also reduce. But while he was more relieved, he began to tell Second Young Master Song to remember to carry inhibitors and asthma medication around at all times, just in case.

Another two weeks passed in the blink of an eye, and the one-and-a-half-month deadline was getting closer and closer. Yu Ze himself was tempted to quietly pass the days before quietly attempt to switch back with Song Yan. However, he had no such option, because Second Young Master Song was a socialite, the star of parties, and had many friends. So even if he kept hiding at home, there would always be someone inviting him out to play.

Yu Ze had already asked Fang Yuan to help him put off several parties. Apart from the few occasions he had to attend as a member of the Song Family, he basically stayed deep in his house.

Fang Yuan had also sent some of the company’s investment plans and innovative projects for him to look over. But as Yu Ze had never felt interested in business, he would just casually flip through them, then toss them to the side. Sometimes he would even bring the stuff over for Song Yan to have a look.

Fang Yuan felt that her own boss; although his temper was much better than before, his attitude towards the company’s affairs had became even worse; it was almost as if he was completely uninterested!

At long last, Yu Ze removed the cast from his arm, and Song Yan’s injury was almost better. They were going to wait one more week for the official test. Yu Ze used his identity as Second Young Master Song to book an appointment with his older brother Song Qi’s company. The Research and Development Division had a testing room with a space for earthquake simulation. There, they could experience being thrown around.

A week before the test, Yu Ze went to a party. The party was organized by Song Yan’s friends, nominally to celebrate the third anniversary of one of the charities under Song Yan’s name. It was also to celebrate Second Young Master’s recovery and the end of his “resting period”.

The party was going to be very large, a lot of people were invited. The front was the business party, all of the company’s employees had received invitations. At the back, was the private party, where only those in Song Yan’s circle of friends were allowed to enter.

Song Yan wanted Yu Ze to go. His pack of rogues were too eager, which Song Yan found a bit too interesting.

What was even more interesting was that Song Yan – as Yu Ze – had also received an invite; the type that could enter the private party.

“I’m going too,” Song Yan said, “I want to see what they’re inviting Yu Ze for.” According to reason, Yu Ze had never interacted with them before.

“Can we just both not go?” Yu Ze weakly asked.

“No! I’m going!” Song Yan replied, “I’d like to see what they want to do to me….want to do to you!”

It was hard for him to explain why, or what, type of mentality he had, but he’d developed a sort of defensiveness towards “Yu Ze”. Perhaps it was because the recent experience made him and Yu Ze seem like comrades in the same trench; a pure and clean companionship.

Yu Ze had no choice. Song Second was determined to go, so he had to go as well. With him there as Second Young Master Song, he could also control the situation if necessary.

“There are no….drugs should not be at your friend’s party, right?” He asked Song Yan, politely.

“What are you thinking, would I risk your body if such a thing were to happen?” Song Yan scolded.

Yu Ze was finally a little more at ease.

The party was really lavish – Song Yan’s friend was an expert at throwing parties, and had booked the entire ancient-castle-like hotel. A crowd inside was already letting loose, the drinks and gourmet were unending, and there were even popular singers livening things up.

Yu Ze was wearing a suit, and was drowned by endless applause as soon as he arrived at the lobby. Just as if he was a hero who had emerged from the earthquake, a large bouquet of flowers was pressed into his arms by Qiao Ruo Ming.

“Thank you, my dear big darling,” Qiao Ruo Ming’s voice was softly coquettish against his ear.

For the first time ever, Yu Ze found out how difficult it was not to laugh. He fought to control his expression and smiled faintly, as he smoothly passed the flowers to the assistant beside him. Qiao Ruo Ming had never seen such a tender yet distant look on Second Young Master Song’s face before. His heart pounded non-stop, he didn’t know if it was because he hadn’t seen him for over a month, but he felt that the Second Young Master Song today was particularly handsome.

Qiao Ruo Ming felt he’d now truly forgiven Second Young Master Song.

Yu Ze then took to the stage to make a commemorative speech. It had been written for him by the secretary, so he only had to read word-by-word from the text, which he could do perfectly.

After he read the speech, he shook hands and exchanged pleasantries among the crowd, before Qiao Ruo Ming took his arm and softly whispered, “Let’s go to in to play, shall we?”

Yu Ze lifted his eyes to search around.

Vexed and displeased, Qiao Ruo Ming asked him, “Who are you looking for?”

Yu Ze was of course looking for Song Yan, but there were too many people, he couldn’t find him. It then occurred to him that Song Yan might have already entered the private party, after all, the private party was full of his friends.

He nodded, “Okay, let’s go in.”

Song Yan was at the corner, and fully witnessed this entire scene.

Author has something to say:
Song Yan: I have developed a sincere comradeship with Mr. Yu.

Translator has something to say:
Chapters are all late because of pigeons. And Qiao Ruo Ming. Because he’s surprisingly hard to translate. Methinks he thinks too much =.= The other chapter soon >.<
